AGENT CARTER – “Better Angels” and “A View in the Dark” Discussion

We’re back with another discussion on the last two episodes of Agent Carter! We’ll probably be posting them two at a time as it seems as though one post isn’t just enough Peggy for one post!

These last two episodes were jam packed with action and great character development and storytelling that and we can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out! Will Whitney/Agnes be defeated? Will Jack stop being an asshole? WILL JARVIS LEAVE THE STARK HOUSE TO WORK WITH PEGGY!?

We don’t know..we want to know…we HAVE to know!

Let’s get on to this weeks discussion, shall we?

Episode 3: Better Angels

This episode brought back Howard Stark! How do you feel about having him back?

Gwen: I am actually glad his character didn’t get left behind or something happened to him off screen during the hiatus. He’s a crucial part of Team Peggy and I love that they’re getting to see him in action (me as well!). I think that Howard will continue to play an important role throughout the season (hopefully).

Travis: I’m glad he’s back actually, haha! Howard was always such a funny character even though he can be problematic at times. He’s a sweet guy who really cares for Peggy and her goals and wants her to be able to do whatever she’s set her mind to do. He started off her adventures, so it’s nice to see it come full circle in a weird kind of way.

Gladys: I missed Stark and all his terrible but fun self. He’s such an entitled jerk but when it comes down to helping people he will drop whatever he is doing and get to work. He’s a part of the team and even with his crazy ways (getting all the ladies into the club so Peggy can do her thing) he’s also willing to help Peggy and Jarvis. I love the little moment they had about him being back with Peggy.

Joie: I’m pretty stoked he’s back! He’s that special little to tie to the MCU at large in way (ok, in a biological way LOL). But also, I really feel like this is one of Dominic Cooper’s best roles. Well, it’s my favorite of his at least. Also, I love how though he’s a bit of a rogue, he’s not just a genius, but he’s actually intelligent enough to not underestimate Peggy. He respects all people. Go Howard!

Teen Choice Award Winner Chad Michael Murray Jack is, and probably will forever be, an asshole. What do you think of his choice to pull her off the case?

Gwen: I mean, he obviously did what he wanted/pseudo HAD to do but Peggy being the person she is ALSO did what she wanted/had to do so in the end it was kind of pointless. I will say though, I thought his character was going to get better and since he hasn’t and continue to be a petty asshole of a character I can honestly do without him this season.

Travis: Like Gwen said, I don’t think it really mattered in the long run since Peggy is Peggy and she’ll do what she damn well pleases. But it’s also tiring to see Jack continue to be this mean rude force to Peggy. I know it’s just the character, but I would love to see a little bit of a redemptive quality in him.

Gladys: Jack’s an asshole who even though has seen what Peggy is capable so only in it for himself so I wasn’t really surprised when that happened but you know it’s going to bit him in the ass. I seriously think he’s making a big mistake working with the feds.

Joie: I’m kind of glad his character hasn’t changed too much as his little subtle changes would be a bit too extreme for my enjoyment. TCAW Chad Mich– I mean, Jack now knows Peggy is capable, which he didn’t even see as a possibility last season, and for his character to act in this petty-ass-bitch way is totally within his character’s natural development. Pig-man-boys can’t stand it when a woman is better than them. And Jack is well written, and multi dimensional version of this to me. But he’s a damn fool if he thought Peg would give up the case. And that’s in the end who he is. I want to see them in some fisticuffs though! She’ll kick his ass!

What are your thoughts on Whitney Frost so far? How do you feel knowing she’s working under an alias and that she’s actually a genius?

Gwen: On one hand I am like “OH NOOOO PEGGY MIGHT (keyword: might) HAVE MET HER MATCH!” then on the other I am like “WHOOP WHOOP GENIUS FEMALE!”. It sucks that because of the era they’re in a woman cant show just how smart they really are when it comes to that stuff, but I am glad she’s holding her own. Literally.

Travis: SHE’S GREAT AND AWEFUL ALL AT THE SAME TIME! I wanna dislike her just cause she’s the villain but she’s actually a pretty cool character. I’m torn. Either way, it’s pretty cool to have a badass villain this season.

Gladys: I am loving Whitney Frost. And damn I did not see that tid bit coming about her being the genius one. I am so happy she’s the one working with Zero Matter. It’s sad that it shocked me to see a woman being the genius though. It’s 2016 and it’s amazing how groundbreaking and shocking something like that can be. GIVE ME MORE WHITNEY FROST!

Joie: I’d like to answer this question knowing what I know from episode 4: Frost is a bad mamajamma beast! Like Peggy, she’s overcome some serious stuff! She’s amazing! But Peggy is better.

Do you think Vernon is really working for the government or do you think he has his own agenda with Isodyme?

Gladys: I believe Vernon has his own agenda and it involves Whitney and the Dark Matter. He may work with the Government but I think he has his own reasoning to play Jack like a fiddle and get this issue taken care of quickly and put the blame on Wilkes.

Travis: What Gladys said exactly! I think he’s a double sided coin who knows how to pass off as good and also has his own plan when it comes to certain things like the Dark Matter.

Joie: His affiliates that got him into his government position are the true people/agenda he is working for. I don’t believe it’s just Isodyme. I think that’s a front piece to the darker shadows behind it.

Gwen: Vernon is bad news bears all around. I feel like he might have his own agenda? I honestly wouldn’t put it past him!

What were your thoughts on the “power” that Whitney has with the Dark Matter? Were you expecting the Dark Matter to able to consume people from her?

Gladys: It was visible that the Dark Matter became one with Whitney but I was not expecting it flow from her and start sucking things in. Seeing that scene with the director telling her he fought for her to getting made about her face, and I’m assuming the Matter felt threaten so it did what he had to do. I was just not expecting that.

Travis: I definitely didn’t expect her to start honing this ability. I figured she’d just hold it inside her till someone could get it out, not start using it to suck people in. It’s actually quite creepy and I definitely didn’t see that coming. I even thought that *maybe* something similar would come of it but just brushed it off. I am excited to see what this brings Whitney though.

Joie: you can tell Whitney has brains and ambition (though to what extent we learn about later). But when she absorbed the director I pretty much said: “what the hellllllll…” and couldn’t wait for the next week!

Gwen: I wasn’t expecting that but I also don’t know what the purpose of it is? Does she get stronger? Does she get weaker (as you can tell by her face)? What’s happening?

Episode 4: Smoke & Mirrors

Whitney/Agnes seems to be practicing her powers trying to make them better, do you think she’ll reach her final form?

Gwen: I want to say yes. I think she’ll end up with some kind of ‘final form’ before getting bested by Team Peggy. It seems like the kind of formula for TV.

Travis: Probably. But it will most likely be towards the end which will then lead into one big epic battle that will be the season finale. It’s usually the generic format that TV follows nowadays, but I do think she’ll reach it. If not, she’ll definitely come close.

Gladys: I think we will get to see her journey to becoming the villain she is meant to be and I think during the season finale there is going to be something big and epic for both her and Peggy.

Joie: Yes!!!! I hope they bring the golden mask in!!! But I am curious if she will turn to good, over her current “extreme ambition at the cost of other’s lives”

Did you enjoy the flashbacks to Peggy and Whitney/Agnes’ lives?

Gwen: YES! I loved that we got to see a bit more about Peggy because man was her past hard to fathom pre-Steve. When it came to Whitney/Agnes I felt bad for her. I mean both women had tragic pasts and both ended up on the right paths for themselves but for some reason Whitney/Agnes’ backstory seemed a bit sadder and I kind of understand why she is the way she is.

Travis: THEY’RE SO AMAZING!! I didn’t expect this to happen this season or at all, so these flashbacks were so nice. I loved seeing Peggy before S.S.R. and Steve and to see what her life was like back then. Heartbreaking? Yes! Eye opening as to why Peggy has always been a badass? Double yes!

Gladys: The flashback in the episode worked so well. I heard people weren’t to happy with it but I loved them. It gave us more backstory on Peggy and her life before S.S.R. I love that everyone is like pre-Steve but I’m more like who was Peggy and how did she end up here. It’s was great to see more of her life. Whitney flashback were great as well because we got to see her road to where she is at this exact moment. We see her with the rats and she’s conducting an experiment but we got to see her as a child fix the radio. We got to see her Mother tell her that her only value is her looks and she’s an actress in the public eye instead of the genius that is she. It brought it all together.

Joie: This was perfection! I like Whitney even more now! And Peggy’s life before Steve was wonderful to see! *shivers from goosebumps* I mean, I didn’t realize I did this, but I forgot to think of who Agent Carter was before him (I kind of strong female character-ed her as “always a spy”), when she was Miss Carter. It was nice to see where the flame of ambition was sparked for both of these characters!

So like we said, we’ll be doing two posts a time so expect another Agent Carter discussion in two weeks!

Wanna talk with us about these episodes? Shoot us a tweet and let’s strike up a conversation!

Gladys’ Favorite Super Bowl Commercials of 2016

Let me start off with I didn’t watch the game. I’m not a big football person. I’m more of a baseball fan. I also spent the weekend at Disneyland (Yay Season of the Force!) so there is that. I did keep up with the commercials because I do love Super Bowl commercial even the terrible ones. So what that said here is list of my favorite Super Commercials of 2016!

Coca-Cola: Coke Mini (Hulk vs. Ant-Man)

Two thirsty heroes. Only one Coca-Cola Mini. Witness an epic chase between Marvel’s biggest and smallest Super Heroes: the Incredible Hulk and Astonishing Ant-Man. Despite their differences in size, Hulk and Ant-Man both know what it’s like to get thirsty. But when there’s just one #CokeMini left in the fridge, who will prevail?

I was waiting for this commercial. I was lucky enough to get the Coca-Cola mini cans and they are amazing. All I knew was “The Big Game was just the Beginning.” When I heard they had a commercial starting Ant-Man and the Hulk, I had to stop what I was doing and watch it. They kept the comediennes of Ant-Man and well, wouldn’t you hulk out if someone broke into your office and took your Coca-cola? The chase was really funny and how nice of Ant-Man to open the can for Hulk.

And speaking of Marvel…

Marvel’s Captain America : Civil WarBig Game Stop

Choose your side with the latest preview for Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6!

I can’t wait for Civil War to hit theaters and this commercial got me more excited. Iron Man and Captain America fighting against each other. The Avengers breaking into two. WINTER SOLDIER. This trailer still hasn’t told me anything new and I may have cried a tear or two.

#TeamCap

Fly to Gotham with Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines already fly to more countries than any other airline. And now, as official airline partner of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we also fly to Gotham City… See the TV spot featuring Bruce Wayne.

I’m still on the fence about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but I did enjoy the commercial from Turkish Airlines. I saw both of them – Fly to Gotham and Fly to Metropolis but I liked the Gotham one more. I have always been more of a Batman fan then Superman so that could be the reason or I personally didn’t like Man of Steel at all. Either way, I thought these commercials were both creative and fun to see about these two fictional cities. I’m all about Gotham though.

Ryanville – Hyundai Super Bowl Commercial

We all get distracted. And that’s why the All-New Hyundai Elantra protects you with advanced safety features like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. After all, you never know what you’re (not) going to run into out there.

It’s a town with Ryan Renyolds. Enough said.

Doritos Ultrasound

I guess there was contest or something and this was one of the winners and OMG WTF DID I JUST WATCH?!?! I don’t know how I should feel about this one. I heard mix reviews on it – people loved it and people hated it – and I don’t know where I stand. I was laughing as I watched the “baby” try to grab the chip but I fucking cringed when it “flew” out of mom to get the chip she threw on the floor. OMG! Another check on the this is why I won’t have children column.

Also, why would you throw food on a hospital floor?

And here you have my list of favorite Super Bowl Commercials. They weren’t amazing like years past but they all had there moments.

Let us know which ones were your favorites in the comments!

AGENT CARTER – “The Lady in the Lake” and “A View in the Dark” Discussion

Agent Carter has finally returned to our screens after what felt like the longest break in between seasons. Remember when we weren’t even sure if Agent Carter would get picked back up and went into a little frenzy?! Well all that outcry of support and love worked because the second season has been filmed and is now aired. Huzzah! One quick change though; Peggy is no longer in New York and has instead took her skills to lovely 1940’s Los Angeles. (It’s actually quite cool to see such a simple change have a huge impact on the character and what affect it has on them personally and professionally.)

This whole blog/podcast started because of our past episodes where we discussed Agent Carter. If you haven’t been following us since the beginning, we used to wrap up the latest episode of Agent Carter every week on Google Hangout and then upload the audio for everyone to listen. It’s what made this website/podcast… what it is! But this year we’ll be changing the format a bit. We still have our podcast Geek Out Together, but from now on, each week we’ll be discussing Agent Carter in a blog post form! We’ll ask each other a series of questions about the premiere, answer them here, and publish all of our collective thoughts at once right before the next weeks episode. We are all really excited about this format and hope you all enjoy it. Without furthermore, here’s our thoughts on the epic two hour premiere of Agent Carter which covers “The Lady in the Lake” and “A View in the Dark”.

AGENT CARTER IS BACK! How does it feel to see Peggy back on our screens?! Also what do you think of the new setting (Hollywood)?

Joie: It feels amazing! We have show with a multi-dimensional leading lady! Also the show plays host to the Marvel Universe from a “Government Agency” POV, but unlike another show with similar ties, it starts before most super powered beings are really showing up! I’m also REALLY excited to see more of Rose, and Ana Jarvis, and the addition of Wilkes is perfect!

Gwen: I am over the moon excited to have her back in my life. I will say though, it is a little sad that she cant catch a break with relationships. I want her to be happy and it seems like between the two episodes something between her and Souza happened. I hope we get to find out more. As for Hollywood, its so exciting to see it in a decade I will never get to experience. I am hoping with the new setting comes new amazing California inspired fashion for Peggy!

Gladys: Guys, I’m doing a dance! I am so glad she’s back! I have missed Peggy and the fun-ness of this show. Yes, it has it overall serious ton but Peggy just knows when to throw out the jokes. I’m also pumped to see how this series will work in the “future” events of all of the Marvel universe, if that makes sense. I love the new setting of Hollywood. It’s much more colorful and I love seeing both Peggy and Jarvis try to blend into their new home.

Travis: I’m so happy to see Peggy back on our screen! It’s been too long and the nervousness that we might not get a second season really has me worried, but we made it and now it’s actually here and and- I’m just really excited. As far as the Hollywood setting, I absolutely LOVE it. Seems like such a great adventure for Peggy and since it’s all set in the 1940’s, it’s just that much more exciting. I can’t wait to see all the adventures Peggy gets into in the new season!

What are your thoughts on the dark matter and what happened to Jason Wilkes, and, Whitney Frost?

Gwen: I knew the Dark Matter was coming I just didn’t expect it to play such a big role so soon and early on. I am glad that we get to establish yet another kick ass female villain for Peggy to come up against though! Something in my gut tells me Wilkes is still alive. If Whitney made it, I have a feeling he might have made it too.

Gladys: Oh I knew Whitney was going to so much more trouble then everyone else this season. If I think they are going with the villain they are going with, I can’t wait for that story line to official start developing right in front of me. I hadn’t heard about the dark matter making it’s appearance this earlier in the series and when I saw it I was screaming at my TV. And damn Wilkes, I have so much hope that you are alive. If MCU can keep “Ward” alive in AoS you can come back. I need you to come back!

Travis: I totally wasn’t expecting the Dark Matter, only because I’ve been trying not to watch trailers/synopsis for this season. But once I saw it, I was so excited. It’s such a benevolent force which proves its own obstacles and trails for everyone involved. Whitney is super cool so far! I’m all for another badass villain and Whitney is just that. Can’t wait to see what her bigger role is in all of this as the season goes on. As far as Wilkes, like everyone else, I’m *sure* he has to still be alive… I mean… everyone else who dies in the MCU lives, so why not him?!

Joie: I wasn’t expecting the Dark Matter either. Like Travis I tried to avoid spoilers, as well (but now that the show has started…). As for Wilkes, I’m sure he’s made it, and Whitney did, so I hope he did too! Whitney scares me a bit…like. she’s eerily frosty and cool headed, and those are the villains I tend to worry most about.

Why do you think the death disappearance of Wilkes hit Peggy hard?

Gladys: I think it’s because the situation reminded her of Steve Rogers. Here’s another person in her life who trying to help her save the world and had his life taken. She doesn’t know exactly what the Dark Matter does and she couldn’t find him any where. Steve gave his life to save everyone from HYDRA, granted he knew what he was exactly doing and he got involved in it but Wilkes jumped in not knowing the outcome of this investigation not like Peggy did either but this was her job. She was sent to Hollywood to solve this case Wilkes was just  there making wine. Granted he was doing all he could to prove himself to the world of his worth but this wasn’t his job. Peggy can’t catch a break.

Travis: I’d definitely go with Gladys. Peggy has just accepted Steve’s “death” and was learning to move on with her life, so when this came about, it really threw her for a loop. Yeah, she deals with stuff like this on a daily basis, but I’m thinking she thought that kind of pain would be long gone. It’s sad to see Peggy have to go through all this, but by the end of the season I’m sure the outcome and rewards will be better than she can imagine.

Joie: I think Peggy was hit hard because Wilkes–like Peggy–has faced a lot of adversity. He’s trying to prove himself at something he’s perfectly capable of doing in a time when people don’t want to see those who don’t fit the mold (white & male, &–I assume–straight) achieving anything, much less, accomplishing great things. I believe, she sees in him what she saw in Steve (Cap): someone who is ambitious despite his circumstances, and believes any person (male, female, black, white, etc) is capable of good and great things. More importantly, she didn’t once have to remind him that she was capable. He didn’t see her being a woman as a hurdle, but as an asset. He knew she was awesome as f**k! Also, like Gladys and Travis have stated: this loss is more unknown than Steve’s. There’s no comfort in that.

Gwen: Can I just agree with everyone else? Yeah, let’s do that. Also I mean maybe she’s starting to believe in her line of work romance isn’t something she can handle. Seems like so far her track record with men has been really unfortunate..

So how cute are Ana and Jarvis? Are you excited to see more of Jarvis’ personal life this season?

Gwen: I LOVE Ana! I for some reason had a feeling that she was going to turn into a mega bitch character but so far I am loving her to pieces. I think that it’s long overdue for Jarvis’ personal life to come into play here. We didn’t get much of it in season one and it’s just a little refreshing.

Gladys: I adore Ana so much! OMG right she came on my TV, I knew I had found another awesome character. I am so happy that she teases Jarvis and is turning into another awesome friend for Peggy. Peggy needs friends (WHERE IS ANGIE GUYS??!) I hope Ana gets involved in some mission with Peggy and Jarvis. I need to see more of her.

Travis: OH MAN! YES!! I love seeing his personal life sooooo much and to see him happily in love and to actually be enjoying himself at home. Ana is such a nice character and I can’t wait to see more of her! She’s also becoming a really nice friend to Peggy which is great because WHERE IN THE HELL IS ANGIE?!?!

Joie: While I too am mourning the lack of Angie (#WheresAngie?) I will say Ana is a perfectly fun and spunky…er…replacement(?). I love that she’s the more colorful 1/2 to Jarvis! They are so cute! I feel like she’s got some secrets that I can’t wait to find out (seriously: Garter Gun Holster…Like I want one, and I’m not a gun fan). Also: can I note how AWESOME it is that Rose took up surfing? I just want Rose to be recognized (**crosses fingers hoping we won’t find out Rose is racist**)

Speaking of relationships, it seems as though Souza may or may not be having second thoughts about his relationship with his girlfriend. Do you think he’ll follow through with the marriage proposal or put it on the back burner to see how he feels about Peggy?

Gwen: For me, some part of me thinks he’s going to still propose to his lady. Simply because he’s probably comfortable and doesn’t want to take the risk. Whatever happened between them in the time skip was probably serious business but he also made it seem like he was ready to move on. I know he panicked when he thought Peggy was in danger, but that could just be residual feelings. If by some chance he does back out on the proposal, that definitely leaves it open to have him up and leave his girlfriend whenever he wants and it wont be as bad.

Gladys: Because this is TV and TV series need drama, I feel that Souza will still ask Violet to marry him but make heart eyes at Peggy. I personally hope that they play that story line with Souza and Violet being in a happy relationship and keeping Peggy/Souza in the pass. Like he said, that 3 hour time difference felt like a lifetime and at that moment he made the choice. Of course, you can’t help what you feel but I really hope it doesn’t become a triangle.

Travis: I think Souza will marry Violet. I also think he’ll always have a thing for Peggy causing more drama in the long run. I’m hoping they don’t go this route, but drama is drama and hooks people in. We’ll have to see!

Joie: I hope he follows through! I’m on ship Wilkes x Carter and I’m not coming to shore anytime soon! I’ve brought enough supplies to last THE. WHOLE. DARN. SEASON!!! “Avast me Hearties!”
**plugs ears and won’t listen to anything to the contrary**

Do you think Dottie will play an important role this season?

Gwen: I want to say yes. Will it be a team up with her and Peggy? Will her and Teen Choice Award Winner Chad Michael Murray Jack get together by some weird happenstance? I don’t know, the possibilities are endless! But it seems like we’ll keep going back to her in New York so who knows!

Gladys: I think she will. Jaime actual caught something that had to do with the symbol that was on the pin she tried to steal in NY so I believe it all revolves around each other. Also Teen Choice Award Winner Chad Michael Murray Jack makes for a really dumb chief. What made him think he could go up against Dottie? She’s got the mind games on lock down.

Travis: I think she will! Her introduction into this season was too great, so I think she’ll somehow make her way into the Hollywood plot line. I think she’s just so mad at Peggy that she needs to get her way somehow. Also Teen Choice Award Winner Chad Michael Murray Jack was so funny/stupid to think he could take her… like really, dude?? >___>

Joie: Yes! I love Dottie. She’s becoming my new Loki (don’t judge me). Maybe its because she kicked Teen Choice Award Winner (TCAW) Chad Michael Murray’s Jack’s butt (which makes it easy for me to like her. But yeah, Dottie’s a lot more then she seems. I sense a team up in the force the season (?).

Each week we’ll check in and give one word on about our feels for each episode, so whats your one word?

Gwen: Nervous!

Gladys: Excited!!!!

Travis: ANGIE??!!?!

Joie: STOKED!

There are some I didn’t even know were streaming like The Bourne Identity (2002) and The Bourne Supremacy (2004). I some times question Netflix’s dashboard when it comes to telling me what movies are available and what I should be watching.

It could also be what I’ve been watching lately. Hello bad horror films!

What are you excited for? Which movie/TV show are you going to miss?

BOB’S BURGERS Recap – “Gayle Makin’ Bob Sled”

It’s a Thanksgiving episode on Bob’s Burgers! Last week episode titled “Gayle Makin’ Bob Sled“, has Gayle hurt, Bob picking her up, and a nasty snow storm brewing!

Bob's Burgers "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled"

Linda walks into the kitchen singing a song while Tina, Louise, and Gene are around the table eating food and Bob is keeping an eye on the turkey. Linda then announces that she’s on her way to pick up Gayle before she forgets to get Gayle. Bob of course asks why ? Linda reminds him that she broke her ankle and can’t drive. Tina asks what happened and apparently she slipped on salsa during salsa class.

There’s a nasty snow storm coming so Bob decides that maybe he should be the one to get her and not Linda. Linda asks why and he reminds her the last time she drove in the snow wasn’t pretty. He then asks on of the kids to go with him and they all give appropriate responses of “hell no, it’s snowing.”

snow

He gets to Gayle’s and is honking but she’s not appearing outside so he carefully goes inside to her apt. He find hers on the floor of her bathroom where she has fallen and wasn’t able to get up. As he is helping her, her towel falls off and Bob starts to freak out. Her response is “it’s just breast but if something happens, it happens.” Bob happily reminds her that nothing will happen and to please put on a shirt. She tries to and just ends up showing him her bra the entire time.  Finally she is dressed and as they are leaving she tells Bob she needs to bring her cat because he will die being alone for that many hours. Bob says no because he’s allergic but he relents. The cat is on top of the bookcase so Gayle tells Bob to lean his shoulder towards it and sing. The cat jumps on Bob attacking him and Gayle tells him to throw in the box and tape it up.

Bob's Burgers "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled"

Bob asks for tape and she runs off to make a salad that she promised Linda she would bring. Bob starts yelling about bring the top as the cat is trying to claw it’s way out of the box. Finally they had the cat in the box and the salad down, they walk out to the car which is covered in snow as the storm is going on and at that moment a truck drives by and covers the car under a pile of snow. Lots of snow.

Bob asks her if she has a shovel, a bowl, anything to dig out the car and she hands him a lot of kitty pooper scoopers. As he’s digging the car out he calls Linda to check on the  turk… I mean the kids and Linda. She says they are find, everything is okay and he asks her to baste the turkey. Linda freaks out saying she’s not a baster. Bob tells her how to do it and she’s terrified. They hand up and he calls Teddy for help but it turns out his truck is the shop and he’s on a singles cruise.

He goes back in and tells Gayle they will have to walk. She says she can’t and just to leave her there Of course Bob say okay but she yells at him. He see’s the kiddie pool and decides he can drag her in the show all the way to the house. As he drags her in the snow, he calls Linda to tell her it;s going to take awhile and that she needs to make the sides. He tells her what to do and she mentions for him to hold on she needs a pen. He freaks out but she says it’s fine. She hangs up and tells Gene he’s doing the green beans, Louise will make the mash potatoes and carrots, and Tina will work with her on the Turkey.

Bob's Burgers "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled"

Bob notices her dry cleaner and he realizes they went the wrong way but she tells them they need to stop because she has to feed her cat. Bob being the voice of reason tells her not to open the open box wide and of course the cat escapes. So Bob is calling for the cat because it hates Gayle voices and Tina and the gang are trying to make the sides. Gene is adding jelly beans to the green bean casserole and Louise is creating some whip cream potato thing. Tina and Linda are taking the temp of the turkey and it’s not working out. Linda freaks out and breaks off a leg.

Bob falls into a pile of snow because he’s so tired. Gayle ends up in the snow lying down with him and they have a heart to heart. Gayle ends up farting and the cat runs by. Gayle gets up and starts running after him. It clicks with Bob that she’s running and she’s not hurt. She says she faked her injury to get attention and runs off to get the cat. Bob loses Gayle because of the storm. Linda calls him to let him know everything is okay and Bob goes off about Gayle lying. Linda says she does that when she’s sad, she’s happy, bored, or actually having an injury.

Linda tells him Gayle is family and that’s his family. He married into it.

Bob see the cat who climbs the tree, he goes up and because he’s allergic he sneezes on the cat who freaks out and he falls off the tree. Gayle see that he has Mr. Bottoms, and thanks him. Bob has busted his back and Gayle ends up dragging him all the way to the house. They finally get together and at the dinner table Gayle makes a toast to Bob thanking him even though he can drive her insane. They all start to eat and Bob sees the creative sides they made to which Louise says “survival of the sweetest.” He starts cutting into the turkey and it breaks apart easily. He digs out a piece of thread and asks if they should eat the turkey. They all say NO with Tina busting out with a plate of egg rolls.

Bob's Burgers "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled"

And in all of this Gayle was sad because she was broken up with Mr. Frond because he told her he was spending Thanksgiving with his aunt…. because people don’t spend Thanksgiving with their aunt.

The episode was okay for me personally. I still love their Halloween one more. I’m not a fan of Gayle so maybe it being a heavy Gayle episode was one of the reasons why. Bob and her always get into it emotionally and I’m here for laughs. So yes, I laughed a lot when Linda and the kids popped up on the screen freaking out over the dinner. They had some great lines.

Though I will say: Yay for that Star Wars reference!!!

What did you think of this episode?

BOB’S BURGERS RECAP – “The Haunting”

Bob’s Burgers is back today with a whole new episode and I realized I never recapped their Halloween episode “The Haunting” so here it is!

———————————————————————————————————————————

It’s Halloween and everyone in town is ready to scare and be scared that is everyone but Louise. She claims to be unscareable and doesn’t feel like celebrating.

It’s starts with Teddy coming in while sitting down he sets of a motion sensor witch. He proceeds to freak out and Bob is trying to get him to calm down. Linda is asking him to get into the spirit of celebrating Halloween and mentions that they are taking the kids to a Haunted House.

This is wear Louise mentions her disdain of the haunted house and wanting to pass. She goes on to explain that she wants to be scared, loves to be scared, but it won’t happen. She tells Morty that she smells a scare a mile away.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

Insert montage of her haunted house escapades here. She calls the actors out – wearing to much after shave, making chain saw noises with their mouth, and honks a clown nose who pops out of the coffin. ( Personal note, I hate clowns so that would of scared me.)

Gene and Tina get scared by anything even a clap. Teddy is still freaking out over the toy witch and Louise wants that. She wants that rush. Mort tries to scare her but he only succeeds with scaring Tina and Gene by yelling he want pickles.

╮(╯_╰)╭

But Bob tells her this will be her year. She will get scared. She will feel that rush. This is it. The haunted house they are taking the kids to will scare Louise because it’s special. Special as in they created the haunted house. They guarentee Louise will pee in her pants.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

So they are in the car on their way when Tina mentions that Boyz 4 Now dropped a new song and Bob tells her not to mention dropped. The kids then realize that they have never been to the neighborhood they are in and there are a lot of old people.

Word of caution: Old people are scary.

Anyways, they pull up into some random home and tell the kids to give them four minutes and then run off inside. Louise, Tine, and Gene head in to see what their parents have in store for them.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

Lady Bobbenstein greets them at the door and what follows is a hilarious mishaps of what should be scary things but instead it’s just well, blah. Linda tickles the kids ankles but says they are rats. Doctor Bobbenstein tells them to reach into the box to feel for some human eyes but there are none. Lady Bobbenstein insides come slipping out but it’s just angel hair and tomato sauce. Really, Louise is not impressed at all. Louise decides to help them out on trying to make this haunted house a bit better and she ropes Tine and Gene into it.

Bob and Linda burst out of a room dressed as a two headed monster and realize the kids are gone. In true parent fashion they start freaking out. They walk outside and screaming for them and that’s when they see Tina’s glasses on a pile of leaves. Linda is having a melt down and as they reach fro them the kids (Gene in his underwear because it’s Gene) is naked and scare the ever living crap out of them.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

The kids and Parents get into a tug and war about who scared who better. The kids won considering all they did was jump out at the them. They realize that their haunted house was not great and they decide to head home.

They end up having a flat tire, no cell reception, and an old guy staring at them. He just keeps staring at them and while everyone else is freaking out Louise is giving no fucks about it. They decide to go back into the house to use the landline to get a tow truck. While in the house, they hear strange noises. Linda mentions that the house belonged to one of Mort’s clients. Gene freaks out because all of Mort’s clients are dead. While on the phone with a towing company, the phones dies, the lights go dark, and more noises are coming from the basement.

Bob heads to the basement and because he’s the only one with a light, the family freaks out and they all head to the basement together. Gene, Tina, and Linda are freaked out while Louise is not freaking out. You know how the dark makes things seem like something else? Well, they freak out thinking they see a ghost but it’s just a cloak because everyone has a cloak in their basement.

Out of no where this loud noise comes out of somewhere and they run upstairs to get out. While they head to the door, they see it shaking and trying to open so they head upstairs and hide in the bathroom. Tina is freaking out and telling Louise that she’s so lucky she doesn’t get scared. Louise is like yea, sure, and the entire family is locked in the bathroom, they think a murderer is in the house, and Gene is breaking wind.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

As whatever it is is trying to break into the bathroom, Bob opens the window and they all get out and up onto the roof. Louise notices folks in cloaks and they are start a ring of fire around the house. Bob finally gets reception, Tina says that Jimmy Jr is her emergency contact, and they some how lose the phone. Louise starts freaking out and while she’s doing that a creepy old man with shears is opening the window behind her. She turns around and she starts screaming bloody murder.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting

It happened. Louise finally, finally got scared. Gene takes a picture and they tell her they got her. She wanted to get scared and they did it. Teddy, Mort, his Mother, and her boyfriend. Even Gene and Tine were in on it. She asked how they did it and Linda mentions a lot of e-mails and they recap how they did it all.

Just like how I recap the entire episode for you!

Louise is excited, she’s still shaking, and they bring it in for a group hug. Afterwards, Gene, Tina, and Louise are watching the newest video for Boyz 4 Now and it’s the greatest! Here, watch the video again!

This episode was the best so far of season six, hands down! I don’t care that it’s only the third one. I love it and the fact that it was a Halloween theme one makes it even better.

Now I’m going to go and watch the newest episode and hopefully I won’t take forever on that recap.

Bob's Burgers The Haunting
